How do I earn tuition credit?
Memorial sells scrip in the form of gift cards that are purchased at a discounted rate and are resold at face value. The difference in the face value and net value is called “profit.” The scrip program allows you and SJM to earn profit through everyday household purchases like food, fuel, clothing and entertainment.
Cards are on hand for purchase at any time and anyone can purchase them, including friends and businesses. We place orders with our broker for additional cards Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. For on hand or special orders, just submit SJM’s SCRIP ORDER FORM. Email it to firstname.lastname@example.org or phone in your order at 268.9251, ext 120. We will contact you when your order is ready for pick up in the North Administration Office (across from attendance). Checks are payable to SJM Scrip.
How do I sign up for transportation?
Transportation is available to select areas. Monthly, one-way and daily passes can be purchased in the Main Office. Download the SJM Transportation Schedule below.

What is the Scrip Program?
Scrip is a substitute form of currency sold as gift cards to Memorial at a discounted rate. We sell the gift cards to you at face value. These gift cards allow you and SJM to generate revenue through everyday household purchases like food, clothing and entertainment. Fifty percent of all profit is credited back to families.
How do I get started?
Anyone can purchase gift cards from Memorial, including friends and businesses. We place orders every Monday morning no later than 10 a.m. and every Friday scrip cards will be ready for pick up by the parent or student in the North Administration Office. Please make checks payable to San Joaquin Memorial. Just submit the SCRIP ORDER FORM and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org or phone in your order at (559)268-9251 ext 120.

Online Ordering at ShopwithScrip.com
At shopwithscrip.com, you can choose from thousands of vendors. You may begin your order at any time and purchase items not listed on Memorial’s forms. Register your email address and enter enrollment code 47D642EE11812. You may already have an account, so check with the scrip office first. Memorial will automatically receive an order confirmation and will process it. Additional options available online include:
- PrestoPay (similar to Paypal) for online payment
- ScripNow! For instantaneous paper scrip (i.e., Edwards, Home Depot, Wal-Mart)
- Reload cards purchased through San Joaquin Memorial (i.e., Starbucks, Gap, and Whole Foods)
- EGifts for family and friends
Earn Tuition Credit or Earn Parent Service Hours
For each scrip purchase, the profit will be split 50-50 between you and San Joaquin Memorial. For example, if you purchase an Amazon gift card for $25 at 4% profit, 2% will be applied as tuition credit to your child’s SJM account or credit your parent service hours. Profit earned from June 1, 2015, through April 30, 2016, will be applied as a credit to your tuition or parent hours account in May 2016.
Don’t Stop There!
Convenience is offered at www.eScrip.com. Simply register your credit or debit cards using SJM’s group number 138375365. Every time you use your cards at participating eScrip merchants, a deposit will result into SJMs eScrip account and you will receive credit — just like you had purchased the scrip at school. EScrip is a secure website and SJM does not have access to your credit information.

The Save Mart Shares Program
Save Mart Supermarkets offers a SHARES card program available to all San Joaquin Memorial families and friends. Simply by swiping a card at the time of checkout, SHARES cards users help the school earn up to 3% back on all qualifying purchases from Save Mart/Food Maxx/S-MART/Lucky.
Memorial retains 1% for the school and allows families to use the balance toward any school expense: registration, tuition, fees, summer school, bookstore purchases, clubs, athletic spirit packs. Or the profits can be directed toward a fund, club or sport of the donor’s choosing. Refund checks will be mailed to families who have a student who has graduated or is not returning from the previous school year.
The SHARES program is simple to use and Memorial has numerous alumni families who continue to use their SHARES cards to support other families or school programs. During the past three years, Save Mart SHARES profits have totaled over $xx! Approximately $xx of this money has gone back to our families in the form of tuition discounts.

Mandatory Parent Service Hours
San Joaquin Memorial offers parents a multitude of opportunities to participate in the life of the school through our parent service program. Parent service and participation is considered a crucial part of the school’s success. Parent organizations, such as the Parent Guild or Boosters Club, offer parents an opportunity to work for the good of the school along with other committed parents.
Service hours for all parents
For the 2017-2018 school year, all parents are required to provide 20 service hours to the school. To complete this requirement, a parent may volunteer time in a number of ways or may donate cash and/or gift-in-kind items at the exchange rate of $20 per hour. Any hours not completed before the end of the April will be charged at a rate of $20 per hour.
A binder to log service hours completed is located in the reception area of the North Administration building. Parents should stop by and complete the log within two months of completion of service.
Service hours for families receiving financial aid
Families receiving financial aid are required to contribute additional hours to the school. These service hours are in addition to the 20 service hours required of all parents. Parents must complete the financial aid service hour form and return it to the Finance Office. Click on the following link to download the form: SJM Financial Aid Service Hours Form.
- Monetary or gift donations and/or donations or food/water/drinks to a club, sport, fundraiser or the school – $10 value = .5 service hours per case. (Contact Lisa Jones with questions).
- Volunteering time at a fundraiser or Academic Decathlon
- Guild and/or boosters participation
- Working at the snack bar for sporting events (Contact Mario Casillas: cell 559-375-2548 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org).
Other opportunities for service exist based on the desires, talents and availability of parents. Parents are encouraged to complete parent service information requests identifying unique skills or experiences that which can be shared with the school community (i.e. professional experience, musical, artistic, or athletic ability). Parent volunteers may be needed to assist with office work, campus supervision, as well as sports team scorekeeping, announcing, ticket taking and concessions.
(Note: Fingerprinting is required of all volunteers and Safe Environment Training must be completed according to the policies of the Diocese of Fresno. Please see the Business Manager in Willinger Hall for inquiries).
PowerSchool is a web-based student information system that provides a collaborative environment for parents, teachers and students to work together in preparing 21st century learners for the future.
PowerSchool provides portals for teachers, parents and students to handle attendance, grading and assessment reporting, just to name a few features.
Parents of freshmen and transfer students will receive their PowerSchool access ID and password at the orientation parent meeting and will then need to set up their parent portal account.

The Parent Guild at San Joaquin Memorial is an organization of parents, teachers and others interested in the development of our students. Our purpose is to foster a greater appreciation of a Catholic college preparatory education through programs and events at Memorial, encourage the high moral standards of Catholic family life and unify the spiritual and educational dynamics of home and school.
The Guild is involved in a number of school-wide events including the Christmas Tea and Senior Fashion Show. The money raised through membership and events goes toward various projects and activities at school.

Athletic Boosters Club
The mission of the San Joaquin Memorial High School Boosters Club is to provide fundraising support to the school’s athletic programs. Funding for facility improvement projects and general athletics operations are the club’s main focus. Meetings are at 6 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in the Media Center (unless otherwise noted). Attendance is encouraged, but not required for members. Please check our website calendar for updates.
By joining the Boosters Club, you are helping to improve the quality of facilities and equipment for our student-athletes. Club dues are $100 for two memberships or $50 for a single membership for the school year. Membership includes two home-game, regular-season passes to all athletic events (pass will be mailed prior to start of the school year to the address you provide – pass must be presented at home games at all times for free admittance).
