SJM graduate Sean P. Hickey, Class of 2016, is one of six students selected to represent Penn State at UBC (University of British Columbia) Sauder School of Business International Real Estate Case Competition. Sean is presently a senior Economics major at Penn State.
Held November 11-12 in Vancouver, UBC Canada, the competition features participants from the top undergraduate academic real estate programs from around the world. Among the 34 invited universities are Brown University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Cornell University, Georgetown University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, University of Singapore, University of Auckland, University of Cambridge and several other top universities.
Each team has five days to prepare their analysis and make investment recommendations on a real estate case study, which is based on an actual commercial real estate transaction. Teams will be competing for approximately $20,000 in prize money, with $10,000 being awarded to the winning team.
Teams will make a 15-minute presentation of their analysis to a panel of judges comprised of distinguished senior real estate professionals, and will be questioned by the panel during a 20 minute Q&A session. The teams will be judged not only on their investment recommendations, their approach to the problem, and their presentation skills, but also on their ability to answer and respond to direct and probing questions posed by the judges.
“I am very excited to be one of the students selected to represent Penn State and I look forward to competing against other top schools from around the world,” says Sean. “I am extremely grateful to Memorial for giving me the tools needed to succeed in college.”
