Kendall Zeman, SJM Senior, competed in the first International Equestrian Association (IEA) show of the season recently over the weekend at Sequoia Hills Stables in Woodlake, CA. She is a member of the Equestrian team, Sequoia Hills Stars.
During the show on Saturday, Kendall had the honor of being chosen to be a “demo” rider. To be chosen as a demo rider, these equestrians must prove themselves over many years of competing successfully in shows. Kendall warmed up the show horses, demonstrating them in the show arena to the participants lining the fence; she worked the event all day Saturday, helping the younger riders with their horses - which is not an easy job!
On Sunday, Kendall gave an impressive show performance, placing first in Varsity Open 2’6” over fences, and placing third in Varsity Open on the flat. Also, Kendall was chosen by the IEA Show Steward to receive the Sportsmanship Award among all 33 riders. This is a wonderful accomplishment, a high honor among fellow riders, and is difficult to earn. However, the special award is very commiserate with the exemplary way in which Kendall conducts herself in, and out, of the show arena. As a senior at SJM, Kendall Zeman is a great example of Panther Spirit, and Panther Pride!
