Anthony Goston ('94) was appointed Principal at San Joaquin Memorial High School on July 1, 2021. Anthony has served as an administrator, teacher and coach since 2000. He served two stints as Athletic Director from 2003-2007 and 2010-2016. In 2016-2017, Anthony began serving as Vice-Principal of Student Affairs, a position he held until his appointment as Principal in 2021. In addition, Anthony taught in the Social Science department from 2000-2015, teaching AP European History and World History while also serving as football coach.
Anthony has served as San Joaquin Memorial's head football coach since 2004. During his twenty-plus years as a coach, Anthony has led the football program to great success. His teams have captured 7 league titles and 3 section titles and he is SJM's all-time winningest coach.
Anthony has been part of the San Joaquin Memorial family going back to his days as a student. He is a 1994 SJM graduate and his vision for the school has been influenced by the Christian Brothers and Holy Cross Sisters. As a young teacher, Anthony was mentored by John Eckman and Bruce Garabedian and his service to SJM over the years has been guided by our Lasallian tradition.
Anthony's core view of education is: "Always put students at the center of all decisions because they are the ones who will be the caretakers of our future. They will be leaders to guide the next generation with purpose, passion and a Catholic spirit."
